H.S. GIRLS'S BASKETBALL: TECHNICAL FOUL??? OR JUST POLITICALLY CORRECT???????????????

LOCATIION; HIGHLAND PARK, IL.: PROBLEMO??? After a 26 year absence from girl's high school basketball playoffs in the finals, the Highland Park High School officials/administration has decided to CANCEL the games/attendance to be played by students in the Arizona locale due to differences with "Values and Beliefs". In other words, all the hard work and sacrifice by those young female students is being nulled and void to proceed as Champions, due to adult political correctness dogma. Can you EVEN believe this is happening in our USA? Sorry, YES!  My dumb question is: why punish such accomplishment and good behavior with this Cancellation? Over an Illegal Immigrant Law that adults are debating around the country? Because Eric Holder, AG, says he doesn't like it and Obama also doesn't agree it is fair? And both men, have openly stated they haven't even read the 10-16 page bill passed there? But dwell and push a 2,000 pg. bill they also haven't read as gospel? Is this right in you guys opinions? Well? In my opinion, the youngsters here need to proceed, and achieve, and at least be permitted to compete, and NOT be PUNISHED for political expediency on the administrators of the HS. It's getting harder and harder to not watch the Tigs. and NBA playoffs these days. But, that's just me.

I kind of wish the people that wish to protest the Arizona law would take a step back and think things through. What makes more sense.... that a law that mirrors the federal law is going to be inacted by the various law enforcement agencies in such a way that they are going to 'round up' people or that because the various law enforcement agencies in Arizona know that they are going to have their every move watched are going to enforce the law the way its wrote on the books? I think the hysteria that's been created by some of the people against the law is in large fear mongering.... trying to make people think that the law is something that it actually is not. I won't tell someone to not protest the law if that's there desire but in the end they might be eating a bit of crow if and when the law goes into effect.

I don't think employers have anything to be concerned about if they follow the law and have on record a Form I-9 for each person they employ, don't you think?

I see your point. I suppose legitimate small businesses would be most inclined to do that.

In regards to the employer issue mentioned, maybe those hispanics applying would be more inclined to provide ID stuff like Social Security # and drivers license right off the bat. Granted those items could potentially be faked but it would make it easier for the employer to find out if the individual was who they say they was.

What would really be nice if the federal government would just do what they are suppose to do... then there wouldn't be any need for states to have to try and enact any laws... don't think i'm going to hold my breath on that happening anytime soon though.

Dave, the people protesting this law don't step back & think things through.... they don't even think the consequences of their protest actions through. I mean really... boycotting Arizona?? Refusing to buy from AZ's businesses does nothing to stop the bill from being enacted, it just hurts the businesses of AZ, who are not responsible for the bill.... any more than the kids involved with the basketball tournament are. If anything, if AZ's businesses can't make their sales because of the boycotts & have to cut back costs, it's the immigrants working for them (legally or illegally) that end up without a job..... so how does this help the protesters' cause?

A lot of these people didn't read the bill any more than Holder or Obama did... but they trust Obama (for some insane reason) & think he would never outright lie to them.... & HE insinuated that the law was unjust (saying that a person couldn't take their kids to get ice cream without being harassed)... so why would the people believe any different if the President himself is lying about what the bill entails? Until Obama himself admits that he "misspoke" about the contents of the bill, the people will continue to believe that the law is nothing short of Nazi-type-tactics.
They don't think anything through.... they're just Obama-lemmings. Maybe if enough of the illegals end up losing their income over the boycotts, then they'll go back to Mexico.... one can only hope.

It is all pretty silly, specially the boycotts. Its been mentioned here the last few days that the whole boycott thing could backfire a bit on some of the boycotters... a lot of people from AZ have been known to vacation in places like San Diego and other places in southern CA, it seems that there has been a bit of a drop in people visiting from AZ.

Another day, another admission from a member of the administration that they haven't read the bill. Today's lucky winner was our beloved Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano admitting that she has not read the law. You'd think that at least one of our higher up officials would take the time to actually read the bill before they actually started talking crap about it. One of them not doing it no biggie... two of them not doing it you scratch your head a little... 3 of them not doing it, you start to wonder what the hell they are doing.

Its getting almost as silly as the State Department talking with China about the bill. The State Department tried to play it off like they wasn't trying to apologize about the bill but really, sure sounded like a apology. Nothing AZ could ever think of doing would ever equate to what China has done over the years to its own people. Silly, silly, silly!

It has become commonplace among our elected officials to not read the bills/laws that were enacted-- just to comment inanely about what they have been told the bill/law says or does.

The health care law is one where many of them actually passed the bill on what they felt it might do (or political expediency), rather than what it said. This bodes ill for any free democratic republic.

The AZ law effectively parrots national law, so why the hubbub? Bingo, the feds are not doing their job-- even though we're giving them more money than ever.

Valid point. It does have the potential to be discriminatory against totally-legal immigrants from anywhere. But will the hand-wringing Feds ever enforce national laws on immigration? Not as long as both parties of national prominence pander for the Hispanic vote, IMHO.

Something else some of these groups should take into consideration before they start the boycotts.... LA gets a lot of their power from AZ.... what if AZ decided it didn't want to do business with LA? Lights go out in LA. I doubt AZ would do that cause I don't think the people of AZ would support their state doing that.... but it doesn't hurt to hold that over LA.... a little leverage is a good thing at times.
