The reason I made this a topic is because of the potential cost for any damage / repairs to infrastructure. If the water continues to rise and there is severe ice damage this winter we may have to open our pockets and add to the tax coffers.

I played hooky today and spent some time taking photos. I first went to Little Sable Point. I fear the light house there is in peril. I would hate to see it damaged or destroyed. Many homes along the Lake are in a serious situation of being destroyed if the erosion continues.

Next I visited the boat ramp parking lot and Ludington Ave beach, then the City Marina. All had issues with high water. The following photos are a small fraction of what I took. I didn't include the new construction at Ludington ave beach because all there was to see is water.

Little Sable Point lighthouse. If this lighthouse does not make it thru the winter we will be losing a major tourist draw and a lot of history. I hope there is something in the works to protect this monument to maritime history.

Boat launch parking lot takes a real beating when water is high because the waves crash against the breakwater instead of scraping the sand bottom. The breakwater can take only so much pounding without significant damage.

City Marina docks and the walkway are being damaged as we speak from high water. If the water doesn't recede then the next problem will be the damage caused by ice which could possibly cost a fortune to repair.

Oh my, I just seen that GRETA  is Time Magazines person of the year. So I guess all the global climate change has to be true. LOL

That's  the trouble with youth, having neither omplete knowledge, wisdom or historical perspective or humility to listen.  Add to that arrogance.  Kind of like some of our young city government officials with the west end, and other money pit pet projects like the splash pad and James street plaza.  They didn't listen to wisdom of residents.  They act like spoiled children to get their way, think they know it all and that only they know it all.  Now our water rates go up 7.5 percent for years while they freely run 50 gallons a minute through a splash pad that is put in an unpopular location.  That's ok for budget, yet they raise our water rates.

Greta and those using her as their puppet are ignorant of historical perspective just like some who build too close to Lake Michigan coast line.

I know several places where natural lake water can be run to the splash pad, runoff goes back into the water source. Vancouver. BC, Canada.  NO WATER BILL.

Is the water for the splash pad in Vancouver drawn from the bay or a lagoon?

Funny Willy! Al Gore is a bit overweight and old as spokesman anymore. Kids can get away with more like throwing fits at the Madrid conference today looked like the cops didn't know how to control them. And the plot of getting $105 million here in ludington for a grade school with unimaginable ploy while Ludington grows the greatest debt it has ever had.

You had better watch out not just for Santa clause but I heard the SKY IS FALLING

Greta says Badger needs sails and oars.

Might take a little longer to get across Lake Michigan and the rowing galleys might eat up a little car deck space but we all have to sacrifice if we don't want to die in 12 years.

Maybe reducing the fares for those willing to work the oars or climb the masts would be one option to make up for slower travel.

We all have to sacrifice to save the planet. Of course by we she doesn't mean her generation. Eating avocado toast and playing with their phones should suffice.

A number of my ancestors came here from Europe on sailing vessels.  Maybe yours did too. Modern sailing craft can cross the Atlantic Ocean in a week or 2 without rowing or climbing into the rigging very often.

Please note that, if cleaning up our commonly used atmosphere is accomplished, and turns out to have been unnecessary, or even fails...the worst result is that our air would still be clean.  Many other countries have been working together to figure out how to save our precious blue planet and its air.   The USA, once a leader of everything new, healthy and good, will renew our efforts to help plan and accomplish this task.

I'm sorry David. You seem to be a nice person with good intentions but if the Globalist climate change crowd has their way we will see economic ruin that will make the Great Depression seem like a picnic. Not only economic ruin but the entire social fabric of society will be torn apart when our freedoms and liberty are stripped away in the name of Global Warming. I don't know if any of you have tried to research the negative affects of social engineering to control the climate but that information is being removed from the internet such as youtube at a rapid pace. Information gathered just months ago can no longer be found.

I know of place also, It's called PM Lake. But the water is to cold, also the city water is also to cold and a storage heated tank is not in the plan. One time in the cold water and the kids won't be back. Another waste of taxpayers tax dollars on someone great not thought out idea.

There was a Facebook post earlier today by LDN and the water rate increase of 7.5 percent a year. It had quick responses, mostly negative, like "wow, that's huge, Ludington going broke? And I'm glad I don't live in Ludington, or glad I have my own well." I think the article and post from facebook is gone. Not the first time I've noticed negative comments disappear. I wonder if the city is shutting down any critical discussion, also on MCP. Thought control.
Maybe that's why more people are turn turning to the Torch?
