Sadly, there seems to be an emergency situation out near or at the State Park regarding some drowning(s) right now, anyone hear anything germane to this emergency? I was passed on Lakeshore by MCSD about 8:15 tonight going full blast. USCG supposed to be on the scene, my cousin also witnessed the LFD/LPD boat responding in kind about 9:45 tonight. I hope there were no drownings, but things seem to be awry at this moment. Anyone that has the appropriate scanner/radio/inside scoop to hear what the matter is, please report back here if possible. Thanks. AQ

Hey Aquaman, did you see me on Lakeshore Drive? Two sheriff officers passed me going hell bent for leather when I just passed the cemetery. Other than that, I know nothing more than you at this point.
Looked to my cousin like a MCSD reserve and LFD member joined the LPD officer on the boat, nothing further yet. Checking, hoping for the best...
Thanks Ron, no more from here this late, LPD/LFD wasn't back yet as of recent, doesn't really sound too good now, but still hoping......praying too for any lost souls, as I do hope you.
According to the LDN, there were a few near drownings.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — The mouth of the Sable River in Ludington State Park was the scene of near-drowning incidents involving several people Thursday night. In both cases, people at the mouth of the river were pushed out into Lake Michigan.
The first incident happened at about 8:30 p.m., according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. A father, a son and a daughter were in the lake and the son and daughter were in distress. The daughter made it back to shore, but the father who entered the water to help his son was blown out to the second sandbar and was having trouble. The man’s wife called 911 and reported the incident. They were assisted by a bystander and were out of the water when responders arrived.
The second incident happened at 9:19 p.m. with four people in the water who had floated down the river and were then blown out into Lake Michigan by the heavy current. The initial report said one person was possibly missing.
The current is very strong near the river mouth after the area gets a lot of rain. It may be a good idea for the park to make some policy for when the Hamlin dam's flow is beyond a certain level, ideally without spoiling the enjoyment of the tourists and locals.
