Give the CIty Credit for Dodging Public Record Requests

After three decades of serving as the county administrator, Fabian Knizacky is set to retire on February 1st.  Our best remembrance of Knizacky would be that he was always able to respond quickly to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and never charged a dime for the service.  In this way he was much like Scottville City Attorney Tracy Thompson, who advised his city's city managers that charging the public for FOIA requests was counterproductive.  Such gestures show that their public…See More

Scottville's Minister of Propaganda

On January 7, 2025, Rob Alway in the Mason County Press (MCP) came out with an article telling us that Scottville's police department comes at a high price to taxpayers.  Subtitled: "As the City Commission faces a nearly $500,000 deficit, one of its police officers is one of the highest paid cops in the county", it went on to tell us about the…See More

President Donald J. Trump Signs Executive Orders on Day One of Administration

The Partisan Fog Enshrouding the Truth

On the night before a dramatic regime change in the United States, we urge media and citizens who depend on politically-stilted resources to do their own fact-checking before they present their political opinions based on faulty premises in front of everyone else.  A recent letter from a local triggered our inner editor, and inspired us to write this piece and publish it to show how fake narratives have divided our country, and why we should never publish such misinformation unless your only…See More

Scottville's 2025 New Year's Resolution: F*ck Tha Police

The January 13, 2025 meeting of the Scottville City Commission was historical in that the five members of the depleted commission unanimously decided, without any regard to the public's opinion, to take the steps needed to dissolve the Scottville Police Department (SPD) and replace it with the same county sheriff coverage as Eden Township receives. This monumental act of…See More

Louise, in the upper right corner of the main page you will see your name and an "inbox (1 new)" link under it.  Click on that and you'll see a message from me.  Click on that, and then reply in that same space.  This will be private messaging between you and me.  I will use my resources to try and verify your claims; our sheriff's office is remarkably cloaked in secrecy (more so than the COL) since KIm Cole assumed the position of sheriff.

Ive heard that a local corrections officer got fired for sleeping with an inmate while on duty and another got fired for falsifying his time card, also A deputy Sargent recently got demoted. What is going on at our local sheriffs office and why is none of this being reported?

I'm curious about something and have not been able to find an answer. I'm hoping you may know the answer. Is it 'usual practice' to use a person's full name in the body of an op-ed?
