Just wondering how many of the locals think Ariel has something to do with baby Kate missing?

I'm not detective but from what I have read in the newspaper this entire story seems a little fishy on both sides of the situation. Niether parents actions or comments make a whole lot of sense. I've always thought that the baby had been given to a third party, either a relative or someone who traffics in the sale of infants. Who knows where this will lead.
The newest question of concern now appears to be the misfiling of the charges of kidnapping against the DNA tested father, Sean. Seems Michigan law does not allow this charge against adoptive or legal fathers, and why didn't our prosecutor know this beforehand? If Ariel's reported actions of partying etc. is true, it would almost dovetail with the Casey murder trial in Fl. of recent, not good either. If the kidnapping charges are dropped, the most they can get on him is about a year in jail.
Where'd you hear that tidbit, Aquaman?  What do they call it when a dad runs away with the baby then?
That was posted in another Newspaper, not the LDN, sadly lacking in reporting as we all know. But, the article was in my news homepage of somewhere close by. Michigan law .350 I believe was quoted? When a legally DNA tested Dad runs away with his own child?, sorry, my legal capacities don't get into that area of expertise, I'm mostly business and common law educated. Either way, he's not considered a kidnapper by virtue of his DNA status to the child from what I read. Maybe another legal eagle can help us here? Thanks.
1 yr max felony parental kidnapping. Was in the paper or online somewhere.

MCL 750.350  This law states a natural or adoptive parent can't get the more punitive measures of other 'kidnappers.

MCL 750.350a  This law states that a year and a day and/or a fine of up to $2000 would be the punishment for natural or adoptive parents.

Both Aq and Lando heard right.

Kidnapping Laws  Both are effectively under the banner of kidnapping, I would think PA Spaniola needs only note in his legal briefs that the 'restrainer' was the father of the child.

that is sad

he is correct.
I thought when he took the baby they were on the way to get the paternity test, since the test was never performed how can paternity be legally established?

Since then a paternity test has been administered to Sean Phillips, and respected media outlet HLN Nancy Grace has it that they say there is no doubt about paternity according to the family of Phillips.  As usual, we cannot undeniably confirm that information as the Mason Co. Prosecutor and other local police are remaining mum on the issue a week after this outlet said so, and the Ludington Daily News is pledged to make sure we stay in the dark, by their 'Sergeant Schultz-style' coverage of the story.     http://www.ludingtondailynews.com/news/60046-officials-mum-on-baby-...

One really has to wonder why these officials, paid by public money, doing these tests with public money, cannot furnish the results so the public can be correctly informed.  There is no invasion of privacy, no interference with an on-going investigation, that this information would compromise or any other 'exemption'   FOIA Exemptions.  It should be available, or we should be told directly why it isn't.

Here is Nancy Grace on 8-18-2011, in case you missed it, sensationalizing the story:  http://www.examiner.com/us-headlines-in-national/sean-phillips-cour...

I seriously hate the sound of that womens voice. The confirmation of paternity comes from the Philips family. I would assume that officials aren't confirming the results has something to do with patient confidentiality.
are the phillips saying anything else?
