Indecent Assessments of Ludington City Hall

The year 2026 is not only the 250th anniversary of the founding of our great country, primarily over disputes regarding taxation, but a year that may see the taxation of property owners in Ludington rise as a percentage in the double digits over the amount expected by inflation, an increase of about a million dollars above the amount with that expected rate of inflation over the last year. This would not be due to any decision made by the taxpayers; they will have no direct say in these…See More

Ears for Deers

It took me a couple of months of planning and organization after learning of the new law approving the feeding of wildlife on your own property (see related Ludington Torch article on the law's origin and implementation), but I've finally established a mechanism to feed the local deer population some good old Eastern Mason County corn.  …See More

Ludington on the Eve of Destruction

According to very credible sources, JT Szoboszlay, a graduate of Ludington High School in 2025, left Stearns Park just before midnight on December 23, 2025, in no condition to drive.  He was not old enough to drink alcoholic beverages, but he did that night and unwisely got behind the wheel and drove towards his home, up North Lakeshore Avenue.  On his way he drove onto the other side of the avenue, crashing into multiple streetside objects, including a telephone pole. driving with enough speed…See More

Eleven Holes in Ludington's New Golf Cart Laws

The Ludington Torch went to the beach yesterday, September 7, 2026, Labor Day, and we saw a lot of flagrant violations of the law, which weren't violations of the law earlier this year.  Our city council passed Ordinance 590-26 this spring which revised the rules for riding golf carts in the City of Ludington.  They even devoted a page on their website describing the rules in detail, and the new rules…See More

New to this site.  You are well informed and write superbly.  Is this your site/'invention''?

I am in Ludington every couple of weeks.  Likely to continue into 2026.  Also grew up in Ludington.

Best/only strong resource to get better in touch with Ludington.  Thank you!

Louise, in the upper right corner of the main page you will see your name and an "inbox (1 new)" link under it.  Click on that and you'll see a message from me.  Click on that, and then reply in that same space.  This will be private messaging between you and me.  I will use my resources to try and verify your claims; our sheriff's office is remarkably cloaked in secrecy (more so than the COL) since KIm Cole assumed the position of sheriff.

Ive heard that a local corrections officer got fired for sleeping with an inmate while on duty and another got fired for falsifying his time card, also A deputy Sargent recently got demoted. What is going on at our local sheriffs office and why is none of this being reported?

I'm curious about something and have not been able to find an answer. I'm hoping you may know the answer. Is it 'usual practice' to use a person's full name in the body of an op-ed?
