Merry Christmas, One and All

Wishing all the good boys and girls, young and old, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy whatever-else-you-may-celebrate-this-time-of-year.

 

Thanks to everyone who comes to the Torch for sparkling conversation that entertains, informs, and does make a difference.  May everyone prosper in the New Year that is coming.

 

Since I hate to start a thread without any questions, here's one and a half:

What is your favorite Christmas song/singer and do you have a favorite funny christmas song as well. 

 

For some reason, I like Dean Martin's Christmas tunes, although I'm kind of ambivalent to his other stuff.  Due to how someone close to me reacts to it, I like the Ding! Fries are Done song, as shown below.

Well my favorite Christmas song was Little Drummer Boy - sang by David Bowie and Bing Crosby, and I always get a chuckle out of Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

I love that version of "Little Drummer Boy" also. Not only because its two of the best entertainers of their perspective generations. but that its two very different personalities coming together that in my opinion was bigger than the two of them.

Merry Christmas or happy winter solstice or whatever thing it is we all chose to be happy for this time of year!!!

Elvis, Bing, Burl Ives, plus Dean and Frank come to mind first, as a kid. And who could forget Grandma's reindeer. In the last 10 years I've enjoyed Mandheim Steamroller alot. Then there's that Crazy Al too.                                                                                                                                          I'm not politically correct anyhow, so here it goes, as I learned growing up: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

I always enjoy silent night and O Holy night too.

 

Then of course who can forget Rudolph the red nose reindeer.

My favorite is O Holy Night.  The version that I like the best is the one by Jewel.

 

We had some family over tonight and we sang some Christmas Carols after I got my guitar out.  One of the ones we did was O Holy Night.
