Senator’s husband stands to profit big from government deal

A corrupt politician? Didn't know there was such a thing. Be nice if the scumbags like Feinstein were not only run out of office for doing stuff like this but held accountable in a court of law for taking advantage of the tax payers.

Ever wonder how lowly paid lawmakers leave office filthy rich?

Sen. Dianne Feinstein is showing how it’s done.

The US Postal Service plans to sell 56 buildings — so it can lease space more expensively — and the real estate company of the California senator’s husband, Richard Blum, is set to pocket about $1 billion in commissions.

Blum’s company, CBRE, was selected in March 2011 as the sole real estate agent on sales expected to fetch $19 billion. Most voters didn’t notice that Blum is a member of CBRE’s board and served as chairman from 2001 to 2014.

This feat of federal spousal support was ignored by the media after Feinstein’s office said the senator, whose wealth is pegged at $70 million, had nothing to do with the USPS decisions.

When the national debt is $18 trillion, a billion seems like small change.

Good find Dave, I seem to have heard about this sometime in the last year or two also. They aren't denying it at all, but seem to have imaginary excuses as to why this situation exists. Not surprising since most politicians, esp. Dems, are huge hypocrites. Seems to me, given the Dems very base of always wanting to give to the poor, and make fusses about poverty all the time, that Blum, (worth over $70Mil.),  would be donating his time more wisely for charity functions. How many million dollar yachts can he water ski behind, how many Rolls Royces do they need, how many mansions do they need around the world?

If they were going to be fair, anyone that has any connection to a member of congress should be barred from doing business like this.

I would actually have no problem with such a situation if there was evidence throughout the time period that there was only fair competitive bidding involved and the Feinstein's did not gain unfair advantages by dint of their positions.  But just like our own local couple of Nick and Heather Tykoski, the record shows quite the opposite.  Another reason for term limits and more oversight over government contracts.

The video below goes into details regarding CBRE. Some very interesting information regarding why the Post office is in debt and why the buildings are being sold.
