It would of been nicer if it was for a story regarding something nice of course... it was on a report regarding the Amber Alert that is currently active for a 4 month old baby that was taken yesterday. It was originally thought that the father took the child but him and his vehicle were found.. so for now he's not in jail or anything but sounds like he's still a person of interest.

You had a 'thread doppelganger' of the same topic, so I deleted the extra one-- if the Amber alert was for twins, I would have kept it, LOL.

Reports at this time from WZZM state that "...police have taped off a portion of a road in a rural area near Ludington.  A neighbor in that area tells Sarah that he saw Sean Michael Phillips drive down that road Wednesday afternoon between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.  The witness says that Phillips was down the road for about 45 minutes and then drove back."

Let's pray that this poor innocent is safe and unharmed.

Yeah, I was having some issues getting into certain websites and when I was able to get into them, then they were not running very smoothly or quickly... wasn't even sure this even posted.
I hope they find that baby alive and well.  It does not look good at this point.
My understanding is that he is in the county jail with a $500,000 bond he must post before being released. I'm assuming this is a family dispute that got out of hand.

They just mentioned the story again a little while ago. They did mention that the presumed father (they apparently are not sure if he is the dad or not) is in jail and that the mother of the baby thinks she could get him to talk if she could talk to him but the police are not letting her do that in fear it could jeopardize the investigation. They did also mention that the guy is in the National Guard and had just recently gotten orders to ship out to Afghanistan... which makes me wonder if that is somehow playing into all of this... possibly what the alleged fight he and the mom had was about, him wanting to spend more time with the baby or something.

It was also mentioned that its possible that the moms cell phone might be with the baby and they are using it to try and triangulate the location of the phone and hopefully of the baby too.

Lets hope they find the baby and that the baby is alright.

I question the police leadership in this kidnapping.  Handled by LPD, with help from the MCSO, MSP and even the FBI, they were tight-lipped at first about spreading the details of this event.  Now, with perhaps the clock ticking on a baby's life, they shut out a possible way of getting her whereabouts known, by disallowing the mother to communicate with the kidnapper dad.

By no means do I have all the details, and perhaps Chief Barnett is following protocols, but from all I know of him, I must question the Chief's competence in leading such an investigation.  For the baby's sake, I hope someone with more experience and training in this field takes over the investigation at some point, if they haven't already.

It  does seem a bit odd that if their is a potential avenue to explore in finding the child that they would want to let the mom talk to the presumed father and see if she can get the info. To simply deny that just doesn't seem to make sense.
I'm sure there is method to their investigation - protocols are developed for these type situations.Protocols are developed using years and years of case studies by behavior specialists and law enforcement personnel. While all situations are not cookie cutter they have to go in with a plan. I hope I am wrong but I don't see much hope for a baby left in the wild overnight. Maybe at this point they are trying more for recovery and building a strong case and do not want the mother jeopardizing their chances of sticking his sorry A$$ in jail for the rest of his life (cases like this is why we need the death penalty). I still will cross my fingers and hope they find her alive and unharmed.
Your probably right.... their probably is some reason why they don't pursue that option. It just seems unfortunate that if she thinks she could get the info from him that they don't try and go for it... might even just be a judgement call on someone's part, who knows? Anyhow, if the baby is found deceased, death is the least of what the guy deserves. If he ended up in prison, we'll just say I hope he's popular in prison.
It is a very sad situation, I can't even imagine the pain that poor baby's mother is going through and I don't want to even think what that poor baby is/has went through, I can't understand what would make anyone harm a defenseless baby/child - how on earth could anybody justify in their head such an act. I'm with you since Mi does not have the death penalty I hope he is the most popular man in prison.

Can everyone please try to be optimistic that baby Kate is alive and well.

I'm trying.... just a very sad situation
