You had a 'thread doppelganger' of the same topic, so I deleted the extra one-- if the Amber alert was for twins, I would have kept it, LOL.
Reports at this time from WZZM state that "...police have taped off a portion of a road in a rural area near Ludington. A neighbor in that area tells Sarah that he saw Sean Michael Phillips drive down that road Wednesday afternoon between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The witness says that Phillips was down the road for about 45 minutes and then drove back."
Let's pray that this poor innocent is safe and unharmed.
They just mentioned the story again a little while ago. They did mention that the presumed father (they apparently are not sure if he is the dad or not) is in jail and that the mother of the baby thinks she could get him to talk if she could talk to him but the police are not letting her do that in fear it could jeopardize the investigation. They did also mention that the guy is in the National Guard and had just recently gotten orders to ship out to Afghanistan... which makes me wonder if that is somehow playing into all of this... possibly what the alleged fight he and the mom had was about, him wanting to spend more time with the baby or something.
It was also mentioned that its possible that the moms cell phone might be with the baby and they are using it to try and triangulate the location of the phone and hopefully of the baby too.
Lets hope they find the baby and that the baby is alright.
I question the police leadership in this kidnapping. Handled by LPD, with help from the MCSO, MSP and even the FBI, they were tight-lipped at first about spreading the details of this event. Now, with perhaps the clock ticking on a baby's life, they shut out a possible way of getting her whereabouts known, by disallowing the mother to communicate with the kidnapper dad.
By no means do I have all the details, and perhaps Chief Barnett is following protocols, but from all I know of him, I must question the Chief's competence in leading such an investigation. For the baby's sake, I hope someone with more experience and training in this field takes over the investigation at some point, if they haven't already.
Can everyone please try to be optimistic that baby Kate is alive and well.
