And the more progressive and liberal minded type are worried about those 'darn rich republicans'? Seems to me that there are more democrats in congress that are not only richer, but more plentiful then the rich republicans.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) saw her net worth rise 62 percent last year, cementing her status as one of the wealthiest members of Congress.

Pelosi was worth at least $35.2 million in the 2010 calendar year, according to a financial disclosure report released Wednesday. She reported a minimum of $43.4 million in assets and about $8.2 milion in liabilities.

For 2009, Pelosi reported a minimum net worth of $21.7 million.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) also remained a multimillionaire. He reported that his minimum net worth in 2010 was close to $2.1 million, with zero liabilities. His 2009 minimum net worth was more than $1.8 million.

Forms disclosing the assets and liabilities of lawmakers for the 2010 calendar year were released Wednesday. The forms give a good estimate of lawmaker wealth, though they show ranges and not precise values for stocks, pension plans, vacation homes and other assets of lawmakers.

Pelosi saw her wealth rise due to some stock gains and real estate investments made by her husband, Paul.

Apple stock owned by Pelosi's spouse rose from at least $500,000 in 2009 to $1 million in 2010. The minority leader's husband also took a bigger stake in Matthews International Capital Management — worth at least $5 million last year, compared to $1 million in 2009 — and his investment in some undeveloped residential real estate in Sacramento, Calif., jumped to at least $5 million in value.

Paul Pelosi also has sizable assets in the United Football League, including $1 million in a partnership interest in a Jacksonville, Fla., franchise and $5 million in a partnership interest for the Sacramento Lions.

No wonder why she and Hillary have those crazy laughs, and numerous visits for facelifts.

What is puzzling is how long they [liberal, progressive, socialist] have fooled the public. The problem is the '' foolish'' Americans who buy into the propaganda spewed by the liberal Democrats and who keep letting themselves be spoon fed the socialist agenda thinking the Gov. will improve their lives and solve all their problems. We are a country which has a large population of lazy thinkers and dependent leaches feeding at the public trough and they are the ones the liberals depend on to reelect them. By the way, most of the Republicans also pander to this large group of slackers.

Good comment Willie, and more than enough truth to it, and getting worse everyday. When the first and second stimulus bills were passed I heard many people ask what's in it for me? I'm still wondering, wth did the gov. and our society at large gain by giving all the money to the same cronies that put us in this meltdown mode? It's hard to get the youth and population at large the correct idea about capitalism when most all the teachers/professors adore the socialistic systems and reinforce that thinking in everyday classrooms. Then we gladly praise and pay these people huge salaries and benefit packages to continue in this mode into infinity. Lazy thinkers make for Lazy doers too.

Dave or any other intrepid soul,

It would be interesting to see how wealthy the legislators that inhabit the Congress actually are.  I highly doubt that few Congressman fall in the realm of the middle class (even before their current gigs that give them a sizable salary each year), but I would like to see the mean, median, and mode for these guys.

I find it rather difficult to believe that most of these guys, particularly those that have been in the Congress for ten years or more, can actually empathize with the middle and lower classes, and look only at the stereotypes.  That's a big reason so many are so out of touch on both sides of the aisle.

Here's a list that was made available from last year.. I know there are probably a few changes as at least one member of congress decided not to run for re-election and of course its a year later so there was probably some shuffling of positions.
