Anti-Wall Street protesters vow to keep up fight

Of the many protest we hear about over the course of any given year, the Wall Street protest are possibly the dumbest. It would be one thing if a majority of the protesters knew why they were actually there... many of them are doing it simply because they have nothing better to do apparently. Their reasons vary if you ask them why they are there... most will suggest they are striking out at corporate America, while they are chatting on their IPhones, IPads, Smartphones, laptops and whatever else they might use to talk to others. And of course they are hitting the local corporate owned restaurants to buy food and take poops. Many of these protesters are more liberal/progressive and feel they are striking out against the conservative/republican political machine... no one has told them apparentely that democrats get just as much money (if not more) from Wall Street as Republicans do. Then you throw in a few of the unions like SEIU (who we all know and love) that are lending their support to the protest.... regardless of the fact that without corporations, no one in unions would have jobs. In reality, many of these unions.. specially SEIU... are corporations in themselves which makes them look even dumber.

Anyhow, if there is one word I can use to describe the Wall Street protestors, it would be this:

(Reuters) - Anti-Wall Street protesters vowed to keep up their fight on Sunday despite the arrests of more than 700 people the previous day for blocking traffic lanes on the Brooklyn Bridge in an unauthorized protest.

 

Police issued more than 700 summonses on Saturday to members of the Occupy Wall Street movement who, despite multiple warnings, took part in the march on the Brooklyn-bound lanes which snarled traffic in the area until the bridge was reopened hours later.

Most of the protesters who were arrested were issued summonses and released.

"In an hour or two, we'll be somewhere else protesting," said Patrick Bruner, an English major at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, who has been serving a spokesman for the protesters.

He added that the group had contingency plans in case the park where they have set up a makeshift camp was raided or they were forcibly removed.

The Occupy Wall Street movement, which has garnered the support of celebrities such as filmmaker Michael Moore and actress Susan Sarandon, are protesting against home foreclosures, high unemployment and the 2008 bailouts.

In Los Angeles, more than 100 protesters camped out in front of City Hall overnight Saturday. Occupy Wall Street organizers say they hope to see such protests spread across the country.

Saturday's march in New York began at 3:30 p.m. (1930 GMT) from the protesters' camp in Zuccotti Park, which is private land open to the public, in downtown Manhattan near the former World Trade Center.

The fire department said it has been to the camp to check for fire safety issues. Members of the anti-Wall Street group have vowed to stay at the camp through the winter.

"Our concern is cooking, the use of propane tanks and garbage piling up. All we're concerned about is that everybody is safe," said Frank Dwyer, a spokesman for the Fire Department of New York.

The park property is maintained by Brookfield Properties, a publicly traded corporation. In a statement issued last week the company said it was extremely concerned about the conditions that have been created in the park and was working with city officials to restore the park to its intended purpose.

During Saturday's protest on the bridge, police used orange mesh nets to surround the marchers in what witnesses described as chaotic scenes with protesters being handcuffed and taken off the bridge.

Warnings were given by the police to the protesters to stay on the pedestrian walkway.

"Some complied and took the walkway without being arrested. Others locked arms and proceeded on the Brooklyn-bound vehicular roadway and were arrested," a police spokesman said.

The arrests followed a peaceful march to police headquarters on Friday by more than 1,000 people to protest the arrest of 80 members of the Occupy Wall Street movement the previous week in the Union Square shopping district.

During that march a few women were doused with pepper spray which was captured on video and viewed widely on the Internet.

The group has garnered support from some union members including the United Federation of Teachers and the Transport Workers Union Local 100.

Those fools are protesting the heart of the free enterprise system which has given them a comfortable life and a good education. I heard some of their demands and they sound like spoiled children throwing a fit.

I'm really trying to figure this group out.  In trying to do so I found the following about this group

This sounds like it could be a rallying cry for the Tea Party!  But yet, the socialistic ideals of the groups that are part of this protest shows that these are only hollow phrases used to mask their true intentions.  You can further divine that by searching the site to find their solutions and methodology.

But not all Occupiers are nutty leftists who want to grow government and socialize the economy, this gentleman actually makes a bit of sense in his calls for no more bailouts, reigning in the Fed, and advocating small government solutions.  There is a F-word or two in his presentation, but this guy otherwise would fit in at a Tea Party protest .

Herman Cain is looking better and better as time passes.

 

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on Wednesday called the Occupy Wall Street protesters anti-American and anti-capitalistic.

"Don't be jealous, don't be envious," Cain said as he signed copies of his memoir. "I don't have much patience for someone who does not want to achieve their American dream the old-fashioned way."

More than 400 people attended the event. The former head of Godfather's Pizza pulled up in front of the Barnes & Noble bookstore in a black luxury bus, and he entered the store to cheers and applause.

After winning the Sept. 24 straw poll in Florida, Cain has seen his popularity surge, especially among conservatives. He is showing well in many surveys, near front-runner and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who has raised more money.

When asked about the thousands of people that have been protesting in lower Manhattan, Cain said, "They're basically saying that somehow the government is supposed to take from those that have succeeded and give to those who want to protest. He added: "That's not the way America was built."

Cain said people should instead protest the White House and President Barack Obama because the president has not created jobs. Bankers and others on Wall Street have created jobs, he said.

"They're protesting in the wrong place," Cain said. "I'm not sure I know why they're there. If they're there because they are jealous of Wall Street and bankers and people who have succeeded, then they're there for the wrong reasons. This country is based on people who achieve their dreams and work."

He added that the protesters "should go figure out what America is all about."

Romney, who has called the protest "class warfare," brushed aside any talk of the protests during a brief stop in Tallahassee on Wednesday.

"I'm just trying to occupy the White House," Romney said.

over the years, I have listened to herman cain's radio show out of atlanta, and believe you me, he is alot more inteligent than most people know. In fact, I was hoping he would advance in the polls  at the last election. To bad we couldn't have him and allen west run as vice pres. That would be my favorite pair. Unfortunately the party will not endorse someone would isn't in the political elete.

As for these demonstations taking place now, wait till next year and you will see what is really being planned. You will have the unions and political leftist creating violence, which is what the pres. wants, so he can enact HSPD20 and suspend elections.

This my friends is the citizens army  O spoke of early is the campaign. This is not spontanious as the the medium would like you to believe. All began last year with steve leurnur and the progressive party

I think the majority of the mob are anarchists and frustrated unionists of New York, who had to stay at home when Wisconsin was rioting.  I'm sympathetic to protests, but give me a clear, coherent message.

I don't believe thats true. The majority are the people from the re-education camps, ie. colleges that now teach revisionist history and all the wrongs and injustices this country has brought to other nations.

And, a majority of the entitled generation, created by those of us who wanted our children to have more than we had. Now they feel everything should be given to them. Free education, housing, medical ,you name it, they want it.

I'm from the generation that was taught that hard work would provide all that I need.I've had good fortune, bad luck, and everything that could possibly happen in between, but, not once did I ever expect some one else to take care of me. And, the key word here is EXPECT..

I'm part of the 53% who are tired of paying so the 46% of the 99% protesting ,can continue to suck off the gov. tit.

If they owe college loans, pay them, thats what the rest of us did. Its called being responsible

I was thinking maybe I'd head down to one of these Wall St protest and start asking around for people to give me their Ipads, Iphones and smart phones. I mean since they are protesting evil corporations and that the people that are well off should give them, the lesser people, stuff... well, that would be me, I can't afford a Ipad, Iphone or smartphone/plan so they should give me their stuff right? Somehow I get the feeling that I wouldn't get any one offering up their devices. Funny though that they want other people that EARNED their money to give it up to people that didn't EARN. Like I said before, the protesters are MORONS! :-)
