I'm sure by now that most all of you have heard about the 17 year old Florida teen that was killed by a member of a local neighborhood watch in Sanford, FL. In case you haven't though, I'll give a brief rundown of what happened... Trayvon was staying his dad's gf who sent him out to the local 7-11 to pick up a bag of Skittles and a drink. On the way back, George Zimmerman who helps out with the neighborhood watch program sees Trayvon and calls 911 to report a suspicious person.. during the call Zimmerman is asked by the 911 operator if he's following Trayvon to which Zimmerman said he was, the operator tells him he doesn't need to, that their is a patrol car on the way. At this point, something happens which we really don't know yet and Trayvon ends up being shot by Zimmerman and ending up dead.. this happened about a month ago.Zimmerman claims that he was defending himself and so far, other then some questioning, has not been arrested or detained in the case.

Fast forward to this week, now we have all sorts of parties trying to take advantage of the situation, sadly. Most annoyingly, the usual race baiters are out and about and inflaming a situation that could get out of hand rather quickly. You see, the biggest problem here is when you throw in the race baiters and the name of the shooter, George Zimmerman, you would assume that this was a white gentleman shooting a black kid... but... that's not the case as far as race goes, Zimmerman is actually Hispanic with a bit of African American in him too. Some of the race baiters have still made this a black/white issue which obviously it isn't.. heard audio myself of someone talking about the black man striking down this poor black youth.

What is really missing from all of this is what should be the first and foremost important thing.... what actually happened. For the most part, the police haven't really released much information at all as far as I know. There have been a few supposedly eyewitness reports that there was a fight of some sort between Zimmerman and Martin but again, nothing official. The reality is now is that unless the police arrest Zimmerman, things could get nasty very quickly. Problem is, if Zimmerman is actually innocent and was defending himself, the race baiters are going to go balistic and again, god knows what will happen. It's entirely possible though that Zimmerman could be guilty of something... be it minor or major.. as there have been reports of him using racial slurs in the past.

In the end though, this is a pretty unique situation, solely because its a black on hispanic crime. It will be interesting to see how this case turns out!

Easy, you mean sweet Bippy? lol

Jason,

You would be well advised to consider the accuracy of your three news sources as well.  Many news outlets have reported misleading 'facts; about this case, and our members are free to link to them and use them in their posts to present those facts and use them in support of their opinion or set of facts.  Like you just did on your first post.

If you find an apparent discrepancy between 'media truths', respectfully submit the rebuttal as you just did (except for the respectfully part, work on that).  This story, I still believe, is being fueled as a distraction by the current administration to obscure the Supreme Court decision likely to come soon.

As is usual among media circuses, some see the clowns as funny, and some do not.

I respectfully requested earlier, and I do again now, that anyone that has pictures of these two men submit them to this thread anytime it's convenient, sooner the better too. If not, then I will leave my post intact, otherwise, if Jason or anyone else that has knowledge of factual provable pictures they can post, please do so. I only posted what was on the web all over the place right now, not an intentional deception. Sure looks like the kid to me though, what do you all think? I suppose the next thing is someone will say Trayvon is only 5'3" tall and 100 lbs. in weight....lol. Another update is that Zimmerman's video of original arrest was released today by accident, the Fl. AG is furious too. Seems George is not bleeding from the nose or head, as was reported, however, he may have had some paramedics treat him before this video was made at SPD. Go figure, this thing is getting more confusing by the day.

I better correct myself, Zimmerman was not arrested, although he was in handcuffs behind his back on the video, he was questioned, and found to be uncharged as suspected, because he was NOT chargeable, in respect to his own testimony, and injuries sustained in the attack by Trayvon, and that MSNBC reporting, is completely false. They intentionally left out the 911 operator's response to "what does he look like"? This very question was left out of the tape that reported that Zimmerman said "he looks black to me" after what the operator asked, "what does he look like"? That operators question was left out intentionally in ALL Respects so far reported. Hey look, I'm on the side of the law, not media hype, and I figure the truth is going to win out in the end, unless, and until, the O Admin. butts in, and figures to capitalize on this warped info. and make it a Fed. Case, and that is what is on the stage for us in the future, if Mr. O. has his way,...imho.

I think it would be fair to say that not every single thing that we submit here is going to always be accurate as there is always the possibility that information that is researched can be wrong... no one is perfect by any means... media groups big and small make mistakes pretty often.... anyway, its not like our local media is any better, LDN leaves much to be desired as a media outlet, specially when you consider that it seems if we want up to date info on any local news story of relevance that we have to look toward the Grand Rapids TV stations or the MLive.Com to find such information.

Apparently film maker Spike Lee can do the right thing at times too... he has apologized and compensated the Florida couple who's address he tweeted to his nearly quarter million followers earlier in the week. Hopefully he learned a valuable AND expensive lesson from this little incident.... before going after people with this 'bloodlust' that many seem to have, get your facts right first.

Here's another example of someone trying to use the situation for their own benefit... sadly, what she has to say is simply just pure stupidity... I feel dumber after reading/hearing it (I heard the audio yesterday). To blame conservatives or anyone else is just silly. George Zimmerman is the only person that may be guilty of anything and once the independent investigation is done with, we will know what he might be guilty of, if anything. Until such time, people like Ms Holt-Baker need to stop with the silly comments until the facts are out!

AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Arlene Holt Baker told The Daily Caller that it is “conservative, right-wing policies that are to blame” for Trayvon Martin‘s death.

Martin was a black teenager shot and killed by an Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer. The shooting, and the police department’s decision to not arrest the suspect, George Zimmerman, has caused an uproar in Florida and across the country. (RELATED: Full coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting)

“The same folks who want to kill workers’ rights in the work place are the same folks who want to kill voters’ votes … and now they are literally supporting legislation that is literally killing our children.”

Baker told TheDC that conservative policies, like Florida’s “stand your ground” law — which states that an individual has the right to defend himself if he feels that his life is in imminent danger — are to blame.

“When you look at whose behind it, you find that the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a very conservative think tank comprised of corporations and very conservative representatives at the state level are behind this.”

Kaitlyn Buss, the Director of Communications at ALEC told TheDC that “the Stand Your Ground legislation passed unanimously in the Florida senate in 2005, backed by all Democrats except one who abstained and was not the product of an overall Right-Wing agenda, as the AFL-CIO has claimed.”

“It is disturbing to watch some groups try to turn this tragedy into political gain for issues having nothing to do with Trayvon Martin or the truth. Blaming those who were not involved in this tragic event — or the laws that might apply to it — will not serve the cause of justice,” said Buss.

Oh my, now NBC is launching an investigation into the altering of the Zimmmerman tape. Seems they cut out the part where the 911 dispacther had asked if the subject was hispanic or black, and Z said he looks black. Thats the part NBC let run on there news, leaving out the question asked by the dispacther.

How convenient?

I would almost say that that could be criminal or at least should be anyway. I mean just that little omission fed the blood lust for Zimmerman's head. Sure, it could of been an honest mistake but that would seem unlikely given what should of been an obvious red flag when the edited version was played back.

Hey guys, look at my post of Friday, that's when this error by NBC was discovered, and it stinks too. That Martin family has garnered about $1/2Million off this thing so far in donations, wonder how rich they are going to get off this thing till the end.

Probably enough money to make the Martin's part of the 1%, then the occupy people will pitch tents on their lawn to protest.

and now its been shown where CNN doctored the tape of Z also. He was held for about 3 hours before they set him free. His head cut was checked by law enforcement and his nose was swollen, his neighbor verified he was bandaged when he returned home.

I know from personal experience that if a wound is not taken care of within a certain period of time, a hospital will not stitch you up, for fear of being suid if infection sets in later.
