I am shocked, shocked to find that campaign shenanigans are going on out there in the sheriff's race of Mason County.  For months, I have been turning to Kim Cole's election website to find out the latest wisdom he can impart, the latest talking points, the latest good reason for change.  Then some anonymous and scurrilous person puts this obvious counterfeit and amateurish effort into my mailbox.  What kind of sick mind would do such a thing?

First thing I noticed in this is when he's talking about the amenities of the 'brake' room. Not real sure what a 'brake' room is... maybe where they store the brake pads and parts for the cruisers but I think I'd prefer to take my breaks in a break room.... but maybe that's just me :-)

LOL.

The sicko that made this bogus bit, wanted to throw some authenticity in it by misusing the homonyms 'brake-break' like the Cole campaign did earlier.  But our crack team of "authenticity experts" saw that was forced when later on they used the word 'week' and didn't incorrectly use the word 'weak'.

Nice Satire! But really that sums up my feeling about why I will be voting for Jeff over Kim.

I know them both about equally and have never had a bad experience with either. I was really torn in the beginning about who to vote for, but then the politiking commenced.

Kim could have had me if he had not took his cruiser and leaped off a cliff into a canyon of internal dept. issues.

All the nit-picking really made me look at Kim as someone who should have informed his superior officer of said complaints and worked with the sheriff and the union to iron them out. Instead he chose to take a bunch of internal dept. issues and use them to attempt to win an election.

I am so sick of this type of politiking nationwide that Kim will not get my vote. We see this in the state and fed campaigns and especially POTUS campaigns. Then we see what those politicians do when they get in office and it is nothing good. So as much as I like Kim as a person I am disgusted with the way he went about trying to get elected Sheriff.

Had he run on a platform of things he could do better and why, without airing every gripe to the public he may have got my vote.

I will vote for Jeff because he is the "strong silent type" and those are the ones who really are stronger nearly every time, Jeff did not feel the need to try to destroy Kims character. As sheriff he has access to every grievance ever filed on Kim and could have showed us a dirty pile of Kim's laundry I am sure, but he choose to run a clean campaign free of personal attacks and that is why he gets my vote. I think Jeff has great character and backbone to take all of Kims barbs without throwing any of his own and that is another reason Jeff will get my vote.

Looking at what each man did during this campaign I will vote for Jeff, he is the man I would want to have my back if I was in a bad situation.

And your back isn't that far from him, as he lives out in Custer Twp.

I don't know either man personally but I agree with"When's"s reasoning on how this campaign was run and since both men are qualified for the office, the way they have conducted their run for office is what will tip the scale for me.

Phil

The internal strife could be a sign that Cole has stirred the pot and has turned others against the sheriff. I don't know this to be true but I've been around long enough to have seen these types of situations. An employee riles up the troops against supervision in order to gain an advantage as a savior and avenger. This has been the same tactic Obama has been using against the higher income citizens of this Country.

I'll gladly second that motion guys, well said. Looking more accurately at the Masse posts, I constantly see a persona that just repeats over and over like a parrot. No thought process to digest and interpret with intellect, just squawks like a repetitive parrot. Which doesn't sound nor look like someone that has said he sold his legal practice. I doubt he could even interpret the LSAT test enough to pass more than 10% of the questions, let alone become a Juris Doctorate graduate. Paint shop, yes, legal practice, NO! PHilly want a cracker?

I don't know whether such stirrings of the pot were done by candidate Cole, but who can be surprised that Cole is supported by the regular deputies and other sergeants.  He's one of them, he represents the service union as someone fighting for their interests.  Fiers has shown he is unafraid to represent management by holding back on perquisites and raises.

Good look at the psychological underpinnings, Willy; most tyrannical leaders started out as upwardly mobile populists.   Please, don't anyone infer that I am saying Kim Cole would be a tyrannical leader.   I'd hate to find myself in a gulag next year, if he prevails.

Who said they don't?

Probably, Phil, for the exact same reason I am not pressing charges against Kim Cole for  grinding that pizza in my face the other week, LOL.

Phil,

If Cole does win, it will be interesting to see if you still say the same about him in four years.

Bargain Basement Mentality? Just look at this Cole post above in talking points: to wit: does he actually want to propose this Bunkhouse Basement area continue as a brake/break room? Yes, and probably be fixed asap, suggestions? Yuuuuup, wall to wall carpet, paneling, big screen, pinball machines, sauna, and complete bowling alley to boot? Why not, we're paying for it, or should be? I say if it smells like a bunkhouse, we should close it down, I have a much better idea for it anyhow, like a museum of MCSD Hall of Fame room for appreciation/shrine of placques and awards, with many pics. of our past LE's, both Sheriffs and patrolman alike, where the public can donate and also visit daily for instance. Almost anything has to be an improvement over what and who goes down there now and for what.
