Maybe some of the reason why the Lake Michigan Carferry had to go hat in hand and borrow the funds to rebuild the slip.

Shinblind, I changed your source to one that may be more reliable.

I would presume they have a pretty good paper trail on this to bring charges well over a year after raiding his business up on the heights of the PM Highway, but as noted elsewhere, he is a trustee on the PM Township Board and should be assuring his constituents that he is not guilty (if that's the case).

Very intriguing how such a great amount of $550k could be finagled. Over how many years? Just wondering how, in a small city everyone knowing everyone, could the banks not suspect? This will be an interesting development, if true. Doesn't look good for the piper in the news reports.

"Robbing Peter to pay Paul? Or having to pay the piper?"
That is the question.
I wonder which bank institution(s) took the hit, and are there others involved?

Coffee anyone?  Free refills?

It sure is odd that all thru this release Mr. Piper is being declared guilty of the crimes without a word about his rights until the very last paragraph. They are saying he is definitely guilty of certain crimes but we just haven't proved it yet.  If I were Piper I would ask for a change of venue perhaps in an area where the jury pool has not been poisoned.
