Patti Klevorn, the managing editor of the City of Ludington Daily News (COLDNews) for almost the last two years is laterally transferring over to Epworth according to the recently noticed article Managing Editor to Take on New Career.

An unspecified interim managing editor has yet to be named following the decision by Klevorn to become director of communications and marketing for the small vacation community of Epworth after retiring from the editor job on April 13, just a day short of the decision by the COLDNews to hire her for the managing editor job in 2016, after working in some capacity for the newspaper for 23 years.

COLDNews Publisher Ray McGrew, Patti Klevorn, and former Managing Editor Steve Begnoche in 2016

COLDNews publisher Ray McGrew, managing editor of Shoreline Media since 2015 had kind words for the departing Klevorn, as did others in the article, and Klevorn expressed a bittersweet regret in the career move.

We at the Ludington Torch are hopeful that Klevorn's replacement will be a step upward from the general direction the newspaper has taken over the last decade, where the previous managing editor led it into being known more as a progressively leaning propaganda mill for the area's elites rather than a source of useful and factual information geared to the interests of the locals.  In our estimation, Klevorn made some progress, but not nearly enough to bring the newspaper back into the relevancy it should have as the area's lone newspaper.  We wish her good luck and happiness in her decision.

We cannot help but believe that the recent elite-sponsored hit-piece on the owners and residents of Carr Manor, which led to a strange follow-up story this weekend (see Carr Manor has history as rooming house ) may have been contributory to the move.

Surprisingly, Mayor Holman did not confer knighthood or a golden key to the City to Kevin at last night's meeting for all of the loyal service he has done in propping up corrupt city leaders and actions over the years.  The guy has engaged in spinning so much straw-encrusted crap into gold that even Rumplestiltskin would be impressed.  Consider that my heartfelt testimonial to Kevin.

Exactly Wonder Woman, has to be. Anyone else retiring in a place they have been for many years, retires on a given date, usually when they are applying for Social Security, or at least with 2-4 weeks notice. Thanks for that update, hadn't heard that until now.

The prob;em is that the COLD NEWS hasn't figured out that if they actually tell the truth about what is really happening in Ludington people would stand in line to buy their News Paper. Everybody likes  to know about corruption , deceit and wrong doings. Not like the National Enquierer  where lies are reported to be real truth but the actual story with facts to back it up.   Heck, I would probably subscribe and I don't have a bird cage.

The LDN was very more accurate and fair about 35+ years back when Mr. Fursteneau owned it from Milwaukee. We heard his wife bought it for him, because he himself was quite a reporter/journalist in that day. As for after the time he sold out in the 80's, it went completely downhill, and completely liberal. I'll also bet that the circulation numbers dropped drastically after Begnoche took over, and even more so after Klevorn.  If MCP had a printing press, I bet Alway would have more circulation nowadays. Six days article here has almost 500 views so far, must be some onlookers.

Anyone else see the LDN today? Appears like Holman is retiring soon too, and won't run for re-election of Mayor. But guess who announced their candidacy? Steve Miller also announced he will now run for Mayor next election. And what did I just say about him in the last week or so about swallowing Shyster Shay's BS about X? Could sense something like this coming, even 2 years ago.

Good call Aquaman

This doesn't relate to Ludington Daily News, but has WMOM switched news persons? For the past couple of weeks, it has been Marcelena (sp?) instead of Kendra.  Just wondering as it seems all of the local news people are jumping ship.

That's a good question.  I wouldn't be surprised if she took a little bit of time off to get grounded.  She's definitely got a hard work ethic and just might have needed the rest.  Or, it's common when you get a heap of awards or accolades as she (and WMOM) recently did to re-evaluate things and wonder how you can keep up with the responsibility of maintaining that status.  Or, as you infer, she may have been offered a job in a bigger market with a bigger salary due to the recent awards and may be jumping ship.

It's speculation on my part right now.  From what I've heard Marci has been doing a credible job, and since there has been no announcement of anything, I will presume that everyone at WMOM may be as in the dark as us.
