Does anyone know why Ryan Cox is no longer teaching at Ludington Area Schools?  He is working at Home Depot now.  The school district sent a letter to parents before school started saying Mr. Cox would not be teaching during the 2015/2016 school year.  It seems like an interesting career move to go from a government job (teacher) to a retail employee.

Well he always has his "career" in law enforcement to fall back on.

This is Ludington, surely there can't be a scandal behind this-- the City of Ludington Daily News hasn't told us anything.  LOL.

If he decided to spend time with his new son then why would he be working at home depot? Teachers hours along with holidays and summer time off are the best of any full time employee positions. Also giving up the lucrative pension is not easily understandable. There must be more to this story which, frankly, I would not give a damn about if he were not mayor or a sergeant in Ludingtons phantom police auxiliary. If this is just for spending more time with his boy and nothing else then I applaud him for trying to be a good parent and I wish him the best.

Well said Willy, has to be more to this story. Doesn't make any sense that a new toddler in the family needs his constant attention. Where's the mother? Are they getting separated or divorced? I would rather have Cox give up the Mayoral seat if this is the case. And why work at Home Depot? Surely they have longer hours, less vacations, no pension to speak of, and much lower pay. Something doesn't fit or make sense here to me either. And, after what Cox did last year to X's daughter, asking her to attend a CC mtg. to watch her dad get ambushed and treated unfairly with a public scolding, he's not much of a good example for kids anyhow. I'd say his biggest forte is licking other people's boots, then hiding the truth in FOIA replies and appeals.

Aquaman,

Are you serious??  Mayor Cox did that to XLFD's Daughter...WOW!

Has it been confirmed the Mayor of Ludington is working at Home Depot, or is this just rumor??

I'm privy to some of the rumors spreading about, the most consistent of which seems to be a bit of a personal scandal within the Cox family.  I'm trying to verify and/or dispel some of the details...

So the rumors about Mayor Cox and John Shay are true?

What the hell Laissez les bons temps rouler.

Hope this plays out well for our fair city. No such thing as bad publicity.

Hey Ms. Tiki Bar come on back and check out Ludington's latest attraction.

You're out of the ballpark, shinblind; everyone knows that John Shay prefers riding John Henderson's pedicabs over Ryan Cox's golf carts when the good times are a rolling.

Steve Winczewski also gave up his teaching position this year @ LAS.  Mr. Winczewski is employed with a local real estate business.

A coincidence or non-related?

X, are you keeping secrets from our fanbase? Do tell us the details of that conversation that Cox had with your daughter last year. I think it was very underhanded and nasty to say the least, a hit below the waist. And he's setting examples for our beloved children? Yup, good he's gone, and stays gone.

I related that shortly after the October 13, 2014 meeting in this response to you, where John Shay had a speech (that rivalled the Mark Barnett "Shame on you" speech) in defense of the city's policies for putting public money into the mix of a charity for a former city employee.  The audience was populated with a mixture of city employees, their relatives and other folks who have never ever came to a meeting after this (or for most of them, before this), specially invited to respond especially favorably to this.

There was nothing on the agenda for this, but the previous meeting and on these pages, I had made a solid case for misappropriations of funds and/or a rather blatant lie by Asst. City Manager Jackie Steckel and the seven questions in the thread   Ludington City Council Meeting 10-13-2014: Stacking the On-Deck Circle  have never been answered by our unaccountable leaders.

If Mayor Cox tried to entice my daughter into this 'special' meeting, knowing exactly what the City Manager had orchestrated, then I must also say good riddance, teacher Cox.

Two low key 'retirements' by two male teachers in their thirties from LASD, just for them to pursue lower paying careers in the private sector.  One a mayor, one related to a city councilor.  On their Facebook pages, there is no sort of explanation offered for the career change, both playing it down.  Perhaps there is a connection someplace.  Thanks for that extra info Jasper, even if it turns out to be a dead end.
