Wow  so shocked . How could anyone do this to family friends and Neighbors is beyond me ! what a waste of time and tax payers trying to investigate his disappearance then to finding all this out... SHAME .  Glad he is ok BUT shame on him!!!

Well, here comes the fun part... It is ALLEGED that Vaughn was in disguise when authorities caught up to him.

That's hilarious streeter, but it doesn't even surprise me now. Well, the property taxes are not a crime to leave unpaid, but it results in foreclosure by the county after 3 years unpaid. Then we have sales tax fraud, not paying into the system for $60K worth of tax received and not turned in, that is a criminal act, supported by the State's statement. Then we have income tax fraud, either State or Fed., perhaps both is my suspicion, that's also a crime. Run OJ Run, you're looking at about 20-25 years in the Penitentiary when, not if, convicted. Someone will probably pick up that store at an auction, after the majority of stock and assets are sold off. Hopefully, it will reopen in the future, like the Wishing Well finally did, but that was like 3 years I think. I just wonder where Vaughn thought he was going to go, and never be found? Had he flown out of the country, he'd have had a chance, maybe.

No one will know it's me! ARRGGGH!

I think it's clear that Vaughn is trying to allude police.  I know people are complaining about the resources used by MCSO to search for him while he was "missing," but I'm guessing the police were also investigating the tax evasion charges.  At no time did MCSO seem overly concerned about the fact that he was "missing."  I think they knew exactly what he did and are just getting all of the pieces together before the state issues a warrant for his arrest.

The MCSO must have found out early in their investigation some of the info that's just reaching us about the alleged underlying infractions that made Vaughn bolt, and thus devoted more resources to the findings of Vaughn so as to bring him back to face the music.

Jasper brings up the other old V-guy, Leonard Vunck, who went missing around Halloween of 2014 (see story here).  Vunck was dropped off by a taxi in the remote Whiskey Creek area of SE Mason County, allegedly with a BB-gun.  Some friends of Vunck organized a search, Sheriff Cole did not use any of his resources or authority to conduct a search, believing that there was a possibility that Vunck had a real gun (or that he could put someone's eye out if it was a pellet gun).  Not Kim's finest moment.

It's a lame excuse.  If it was a real gun (which those who knew him well swore it wasn't) then the public would be at risk for someone with mental health problems prowling around our county with a gun, with the MCSO ready to respond in 15 minutes tops.  A search party with armed deputies and volunteers would have been prudent in many people's opinions, not let the guy die of exposure alone and in the wilderness. or worse, kill other people.

Vunck's belongings were eventually found and reported to the sheriff (not to the public as far as I know), the sheriff still didn't muster a ground search, and eventually the body was found drowned along the PM River.  (as revealed here)

Some interesting reading, been going on for years these tax problems. Jennifer and Rita F. also involved, at least on paper deeds.

Aquaman, I couldn't get the second link to work. A lot of people delay paying their taxes but this may be the last hurrah for Vaughn.

$60,000 in unpaid taxes on money received? That grocery store has more business than Wal-Mart. That means the store would have had to being in A minimum $1,000,000 bucks. Looks good for a investor. LOL

That $60,000 probably covers several years and most likely is composed of a lot of added on penalty fees. If that's from 1 year without penalties then I would definitely say he walked away from a gold mine.

The last year Vaughn satisfied any lien was 2010, so this started in 2003, 13 years ago, and he's been in dutch for quite a few years, at least 6 years now. I'm thinking he grossed about $150K plus or minus 10%, per year maximum. I wonder what disguise he was using, Bernie Madoff?

He should  have been wearing a hijab and had a card claiming he was a transgendered Syrian refugee who didn't speak English and no one would have dared question him further.
